Shetland Sheepdogs are described as playful, energetic, bright dogs who are categorized in the herding group of dog breeds. The common colors of Shetland Sheepdogs are black, blue merle, and sable (ranging from golden through mahogany); marked with varying amounts of white and/or tan. Their coat requires a good brushing weekly, for they do shed heavily during the change of seasons. They are considered a small dog breed with a height ranging from 13-16 inches and an average weight of 15-25 pounds for both genders. Their life expectancy is 12- 14 years.
